A twisty row of Swaledale Ewes, all line up and walk to the feeding point where the Farmer leaves Winter food for them. Taken on a dull and dismal day, at Ivelets, deep in the heart of Swaledale in the great Yorkshire Dales! Converted to monochrome/black & white for effect. Contre Jour Tree

A double shale track leads to a winter tree in Contre Jour - The technique of taking photographs into the light, with the light source behind the subject, in this case, the soft winter sun. This track is on Crackpot Moor, Swaledale, The Dales National Park, North Yorkshire and is often used purely by tractors, to take feed to the sheep, in Winter. Ribblehead Viaduct

Ribblehead Viaduct was built to cover for the Carlisle to Settle railway line..... Work on the line started in 1869. The first stone was laid on the longest viaduct, across Batty Moor (now Ribblehead), in October 1870. At the peak of activity, some 2,000 men worked on this viaduct. And hundreds died during the 4 years it took to complete the engineering marvel. This was a construction, as was the whole line, built almost entirely by men without the assistance of machinery. Petrol/Fuel pumps can be seen at the side of the main road leading from Arkengarthdale (The sister dale to Swaledale) to Reeth, in the Dales National Park, North Yorkshire. The pumps would have been in service from the First World War, and remain standing, to this day, albeit looking rather dishevelled. Red Squirrel in Monochrome

This image was converted to black and white/monochrome, to give an effect of an old newspaper cutting type of style. The beautiful Red Squirrel can be found in Wensleydale, where a patch of pine trees have been maintained by Rangers specifically for the area. Red Squirrels were in decline at one point due to the introduction of American Greys which carried Pox, which in turn, although didn't effect themselves, they nearly wiped out the Reds. Fortunately, pockets of Reds can be seen in Scotland, and in particular, The Lake District, and now this healthy pocket in Wensleydale. This cute and cuddly Red Squirrel image would look divine on any home or office wall as prints or canvases or even other types of merchandise that is available for sale.

A very difficult image to take whilst the Arctic Tern is in mid-air, about to take a dive into the sea, searching for fish to take home for it's chicks. Taken at Seahouses, off the East Coast of Yorkshire, near the Farne Isles, from a moving boat!
