Sunrise over Loch Morlich

Early winter morning view of Loch Morlich, in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland. This was a very early start leaving Edinburgh at 4am. The Loch was so still without a breath of wind. This image was taken just before the sun popped over the mountains. As the sunlight started to hit the clouds I realised I was going to be able to capture something quite special before the sun crested the peaks.

This image was taken facing east(ish), normally I would shoot westward with the mountains in shot but this view caught my attention on this occasion.
