Jeni Harney | Botanical print of sycamore leaves

Botanical print of sycamore leaves

A botanical print, also known as a wet cyanotype. This type of image is made by the sun. A coated sheet of paper has leaves, flowers or part of a plant placed on it and is placed into a contact printing frame. It is then left in a sunny spot in the garden, or on a windowsill for a number of hours, before being taken out of the frame, the plant removed and then the print being washed. The original print of this was made on a sheet of paper measuring 60x21cm. This print will work best printed either 10x30 or 12x36.

When choosing a size, please bear in mind that this print was originally made on an A4 size textured paper, therefore as the artist, I wouldn't recommend printing larger than 16x24 due to how the texture will show in the final print. These are only offered on matt paper to keep the look as close as possible to the original piece of artwork.
