Eton College Chapel From The Thames

Eton College Chapel From The Thames

The imposing structure of Eton College's chapel rises above the rooftops of the riverside buildings of Eton, Berkshire. This is the scene viewed from the Windsor Town Bridge which links Windsor and Eton. The chapel dates from 1441 when the college was founded by King Henry VI and it is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. However, the chapel was never completely finished as planned due to the king's downfall. He died in the Tower of London in 1471.
