Kaye Menner | Saltwater Crocodile

Saltwater Crocodile

Photograph of a large saltwater crocodile in shallow water keeping an eye out for some food. This male crocodile is 4.6 meters long (just over 15 feet). Photograph captured at Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia. The saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus), also known as the estuarine crocodile, Indo-Pacific crocodile, marine crocodile, sea crocodile or informally as saltie, is the largest of all living reptiles, as well as the largest riparian predator in the world. Males of this species can reach sizes up to 6.30 m (20.7 ft) and possibly up to 7.0 m (23.0 ft) in length. However, an adult male saltwater crocodile rarely reaches or exceeds a size of 6 m (19.7 ft) weighing 1,000 to 1,200 kg (2,200–2,600 lb). Females are much smaller and often do not surpass 3 m (9.8 ft).

Young Male Lion Portrait

Portrait of a young male lion resting on grass before a colorful rocky background. The lion typically inhabits grasslands and savannahs, but is absent in dense forest. It is usually more diurnal than other big cats, but when persecuted adapts to being active at night and at twilight. A lion pride consists of a few adult males, related females and cubs. Prides vary in size and composition from three to 20 adult lions, depending on habitat and prey availability. Females cooperate when hunting and prey mostly on large ungulates.

Kaye Menner | Zebra in Fantasy World

Zebra in Fantasy World

My digital art rendition of one of my zebra photographs digitally altered in several editing programs including Photoshop to create a colorful and fantasy zebra image. Zebra are large animals with black and white stripes. They can be seen in the wild, but are also common attractions at zoos. Zebras are herbivores, and are sometimes hunted by predators like lions. They are relatives of the horse, and both members of the genus Equus.
