We were amazed to see what we thought looked like snakes growing in the dry dirt or sand on the sides of the road. We though these were paddy melon, but apparently they are Citron Melon.
Four images I stitched together in Photoshop to created a panoramic image of the red dry outback desert in Australia, between Burra, South Australia and Broken Hill, New South Wales.
I captured this photograph of part of the Darling River in Menindee which is a small town in the far west of New South Wales, Australia. It was the first town to be established on the Darling River.
It was calm and peaceful, then all of a sudden several flocks of Corellas took off in a frenzy.

Licmetis is a subgenus of the white cockatoos (genus Cacatua). They are collectively known as Corellas in Australia.
Emus in the wild I captured in outback Australia, New South Wales near Broken Hill. For some reason they like to stroll the dirt roads, but once they hear a car, they take off making photography more difficult. But so great to see them in their natural environment.

The citron melon is native to Africa, probably the Kalahari desert, where it still grows abundantly.
