Portsmouth became a city in 1926 and was a major centre for the departures for the D-Day landings during World War 2

Looking across the Beaulieu River towards the mill dam. The small village is home to the Palace House and Gardens, Beaulieu Abbey and the National Motor Museum. The river is tidal to the village and was used to power a mill.
The Rhinefield Ornamental Drive crosses the bridge over Black Water in the New Forest not far from Rhinefield House.
Eyeworth Pond was created in the 19th century to create a water supply for a gunpowder factory. The factory closed in 1921 but the pond near Fritham in the New Forest lives on.
