A magnificent building from any perspective, but for me the point of intersection of the nave, the choir and the north and south arms of the cathedral, the four corners of which support the massive central tower above the remarkably beautiful ceiling are the most worthy of note . Totems are the iconic features of the old west coast of Canada native settlements. They are often free-standing and were also often used as structural centre poles for the long houses found along the coast and rivers. The poles tell the story of the clans represented in the family units, each clan named for one of the animals of the forest and ocean which are the mainstay of native life, the blending of clans represented in the poles
