There are many fishermen's huts in close proximity to the eastern side of Portland Bill
Along the path into Lulworth Cove one passes these collapsed sea caves.
The bird migration observatory and field centre is housed in the disused 19th century lighthouse above the Portland Stone quarries on Portland Bill and is surrounded by fishermen's huts.
This is the most recent lighthouse built on Portland Bill, finished in 1906. It stands 41 metres high. It continues to serve navigation along the south coast.
From the Olympic memorial high atop Portland Bill one looks over the old town Portland and along Chesil Beach as far as the sea mists will allow.
