I am an enthusiastic landscape photographer based on the Isle of Arran in the Firth of Clyde. Arran is often referred to as "Scotland in miniature" and that is an apt description. The hills and glens of the north of the island reflect the wild mountains of The Highlands while the southern half of the island is more pastoral, reminiscent of the rolling border country. With the changing seasons and the unpredictability of weather in the west of Scotland, the island offers much for the landscape and wildlife photographer.
I am not far travelled but when I find myself away from Arran, my favourite places for photography are the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and the north west of England, especially the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.

Ardgour, Sunart and Moidart - Jacobite Country
From the western shore of Loch Linnhe to the west coast at Mallaig lies a highland hinterland of high mountains and deep sea lochs. It was here, at Glenfinnan, that Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard in 1745 and many a highlander today can tell of ancestors and where they fought, for or against the prince, as if it were yesterday. This album contains images from this, perhaps the most romantic part of Scotland. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I have enjoyed taking them.
Golf on Arran
As on the Scottish mainland, golf plays an important part in the life of Scotland in Miniature. Arran is home to no less than six golf clubs, each with a thriving membership and each offering a warm welcome to visiting golfers. Here are just a few images of the island courses. I hope they appeal to golfers and non golfers alike.
